Know About FNB
- Unlike many run-of-the-mill fellowships after gynaecology available today in the country on IVF and Reproductive Medicine, FNB is a much coveted degree officially recognised by the Medical Council of India as a super-specialty qualification. Unlike many such non-recognised fellowships run privately, FNB is an official qualification awarded by none other than the Diplomate of the National Board, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
- FNB is not an easy qualification to achieve. It involves an extremely competitive entrance exam in which out of many hundreds only 7-8 candidates get to pick a seat based on their merit. They then undergo a rigorous two-year residency training during which they are required to maintain a strict performa, log book, training schedules and also avail hands-on training. The long two-years course involves an intensive and comprehensive training in all aspects of IVF sciences like egg retrieval procedures, embryology, semen processing and freezing, embryo processing and freezing, embryo transfers, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, surgical sperm retrieval (e.g. TESE operations), etc. At the end of the two years, they then are supposed to clear an equally tough exit examination, composed of both theory and practical viva-voce, only after which they are conferred this honourable post-doctoral fellowship degree. The government through the MCI officials recognises FNB as a post-doctoral degree in IVF and Reproductive Science. Other fellowships, including many so-called International Fellowships obtained from USA / Germany / Singapore, etc are not recognised.
[ FNB degree - which Is recognised by the Medical Council of India]
- "Honestly, I'm way more proud of my FNB degree than any International exposure I have and I can ever have." ~ Dr. Rutvij Dalal
- Dr. Rutvij Dalal, our IVF specialist in Delhi, chose to pursue FNB qualification after his DGO (gold medalist) and DNB (Obstetrics & Gynecology at one of the premier institutes of South India) because he always wanted to achieve excellence in his subject of passion, that is artificial reproductive technology. He knew that in order to stand apart from many so-called self-proclaimed 'IVF trained' doctors, an official degree of FNB would tremendously help him. He not only pursued FNB from the coveted centre of excellence at Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre @ Mumbai, he stood first in the All India FNB entrance examination in the entire country in year 2010. After that, he has never looked back. He has been practising exclusive and dedicated Infertility treatment / IVF practice all these years ever since. Having worked with many renowned International corporate groups and performing more than 10,000 successful IVF cycles, and achieving many awards and honours of excellence, he has now decided to offer comprehensive and holistic endoscopy and ART services for infertile couples under one roof in Delhi.
